8 Ways Yoga Helped Me Learn How To Surf

8 Ways Yoga Helped Me Learn How to Surf

Last May I learned how to surf in Arugam Bay, Sri Lanka. What an experience! I loved everything about it. Taking a first surf class with one of the local teachers, sharing a tuk-tuk with a surf buddy to reach the different surf spots while enjoying the beautiful landscapes, spending hours and hours surfing every day and hanging out day and night with friends from all around the world. What can I say, it was amazing.

Letting Life Lead Me in the Right Direction

I feel a bit sad that I haven't been able to update my blog since August. I have so much to share, like an interview that I did with BNS Iyengar while I was in Mysore, but I haven't been able to even finish writing about my experiences with surfing and teaching yoga in Sri Lanka. I have tried, believe me, but the last months have been quite busy.

Sivananda Yoga Opening and Closing Prayers

If you've ever been to a yoga class at one of the Sivananda Ashrams or Centers around the world you probably remember the opening and closing prayers that the teachers chant at the start and at the end of each yoga class.

I have tried to find these Sanskrit prayers' texts or lyrics online without success. So I decided to write them down and include them here for anybody interested in learning them.

Study Vedanta at Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh, India

Swami Dayananda Ashram Rishikesh

For a long time I wanted to study vedanta at Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh, at least for the short term courses which they call Camps. The timing was never right before but finally last March I had the opportunity to do so. I had to book like six months in advanced because their Camps are usually very popular among local people.
