If you’re searching for the best yoga teacher training in Bali, I think you’ll
love this curated list. Whether you’re looking for a Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin,
or classical Hatha yoga TTC in the lush mountains of Ubud, among rice fields,
or near a surf beach, you’ll find it here.
Ever since I published my popular blog post on
the best yoga teacher training courses in India, many readers have asked me to create a similar list for Bali.
Well, after years of procrastinating, I finally decided to get down to it and
put this list together. I’m really happy with how it turned out. I hope
it helps you find the right yoga teacher training in Bali for you.
Where to Do A Yoga Teacher Training Course in Bali?
The Yoga TTCs included in this list are located mainly in Bali’s most popular
destinations: Ubud, Canggu, Uluwatu, and Nusa Lembongan.
Each area has a completely different vibe, so it really just depends on the
kind of experience you’re looking for.
Ubud is Bali’s spiritual and cultural heart. It’s surrounded by lush jungle,
rice fields, temples, waterfalls, and some of the island’s most beautiful
retreat centers.
If you’re looking for a more traditional yoga experience focused on healing,
self-discovery, meditation, and personal growth, Ubud will probably feel like
paradise.
Canggu is more modern, social, and fast-paced. It’s famous for its cafés,
beach clubs, coworking spaces, gyms, nightlife, and surf scene. A yoga teacher
training in Canggu is perfect if you want to combine yoga with a more active
and social lifestyle.
Uluwatu has a more relaxed and upscale surf vibe. Think dramatic cliffs,
white-sand beaches, luxury villas, beautiful cafés, and incredible ocean
views. It feels quieter and less chaotic than Canggu, while still offering
amazing food and a strong wellness scene.
And then there’s Nusa Lembongan, a small island located just off the coast of
Bali. It’s definitely less popular than the other three destinations, but
that’s part of the appeal.
Life there is much slower, calmer, and more connected to the ocean. If you
want a peaceful tropical island experience away from traffic and crowds, it
could be the perfect place to do your training.
Which yoga TTC in Bali would I choose?
To be honest, I don’t need to do another yoga teacher training course, but
after doing the research for this curated list, I can’t stop daydreaming about
spending a month in Bali doing yoga.
Looking at all those amazing retreat centers with extraordinary food, gorgeous
yoga shalas, excellent international teachers, and in-depth programs has been
really inspiring.
It’s not an easy choice, but if I had to pick one, it would be the hatha yoga
teacher training at
SKY Yoga & Meditation
in Ubud.
Their eco-village with bamboo architecture is out of this world, and so is
their food. Everyone also speaks very warmly about Simon, the founder,
meditation teacher, and sound healer.
My second choice would be the Vinyasa teacher training at
Salty Prana, Uluwatu.
I like the industrial chic design of the facilities. The food looks
amazing, the views from the rooftop yoga shala are breathtaking, and there is
an ice bath available all day. I’d also love to explore the nearby surf
breaks with Ben and Celine, the cool surfer-yogi couple who own and run the
place.
My third choice would be the Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training at
Purna Yoga in Canggu.
I love Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, Mysore style, and going deeper into my practice
with the support of Rohit and Ewelina, the lovely couple who created this
training, feels just right. It would be great to meet them again and
experience the space and community they’ve created.
10 Best Yoga Teacher Training Courses in Bali
Ok, so here is my full list of the best yoga teacher training courses in
Bali. I curated this list based on online reviews. I read countless
reviews to give you a solid overview of each training and location.
I only chose schools with at least a 4.5-star rating on both BookYogaRetreats
and Google Maps. Originally, I came up with a list of 20 teacher
training courses. Unfortunately, I had to exclude half of them.
Although they all had ratings above 4.5 stars, the reviews were often not for
their Bali trainings, but for the school’s previous or alternative locations,
like India or Thailand. In other cases, they simply didn’t have enough reviews
for me to confidently trust the quality of the training.
So you can be sure this list includes only the best of the best.
Disclaimer: I’ve included links to the school’s
BookYogaRetreats pages. These are affiliate links. If you book a course
through these links, you’ll be supporting my work via a small commission, at
no extra cost to you. Thanks for your support!
Also, keep in mind that although some of these yoga TTCs may have only a
handful of reviews on BYR, they can still have hundreds of reviews across
Google Maps, BookRetreats, and Tripadvisor. I took all of them into
account while creating this list.
Please note that prices on BYR change frequently, and the “starting at”
price for each 200-hour TTC is simply the lowest available option at the
time of writing.
House of Om, Ubud
|

⇒ 20-day 200-hour multistyle yoga TTC at The Mansion starting at $
2,700
House of Om is probably the largest and most popular school in Bali.
They use four different stunning resorts around Bali for their
programs.
The number of positive reviews they receive is honestly impressive.
Each location has a minimum of 4.8 stars. The Mansion and Amertham
have held that rating with more than a thousand Google reviews each.
The Mansion is a boutique resort right in the heart of Ubud. It's the
biggest of the four resorts. It offers multiple pools, a gym, beautiful
gardens, and several yoga shalas.
It's a great pick if you want the full immersive training experience, but
also fancy exploring Ubud on your days off. There can be up to three
TTCs running at the same time, each using different shalas.
Yoga Amertham is tucked between two rivers in the jungle, about 25
minutes from Ubud center, in Gianyar. It's quieter, more
intimate.
There are two shalas (one right by the river and another elevated bamboo
"sky shala"), a pool, and beautifully decorated rooms with verandas
overlooking the jungle. There can be up to two TTCs running at the
same time.
Pelaga sits at around 950 meters in elevation in the Balinese
mountains. So you get access to fresh mountain air, panoramic views,
and zero tourists.
The remote resort grows its own organic produce right on site, which goes
straight into your meals.
There's a waterfall nearby and coffee plantations within walking
distance.
Melati is House of Om’s own property. It’s the smallest
and newest campus, right in the middle of Ubud. It has a cozy, home-like
feel.
Although it’s surrounded by trees and lush gardens, you're just a one-minute
walk from the best cafes, restaurants, and spas in town. It also features a
pool and two beautiful shalas.
They offer a 200-hour and 300-hour multi-style yoga teacher training focused
on Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga Yoga (half primary series). The
training also includes experiences like sound healing sessions and ice
baths.
The 200-hour multi-style yoga TTC is run at The Mansion, Yoga Amertham, and
Pelaga. There is also a 200-hour Hybrid yoga TTC (10-day
in-person + online) at Melati and a 300-hour Hybrid yoga TTC at
Pelaga. At Pelaga, you can also do a
meditation teacher training.
SKY Yoga & Meditation, Ubud
|
| Image courtesy of SKY Yoga & Meditation |
⇒ 24-day 200-hour Hatha Yoga TTC starting at $ 3,018
SKY Yoga & Meditation’s location is an incredible eco-village in Pejeng,
a serene village on the edge of Ubud, about 7km from the town center.
So you're away from the tourist buzz but not completely isolated.
You really can’t get much more immersed in nature than this. The mesmerizing
bamboo architecture blends beautifully with the jungle and organic gardens
surrounding the property.
There is one large yoga shala for the asana classes and another, more
intimate shala for the theory sessions. There is also a swimming pool
and
a sound dome with incredible acoustics designed specifically for the
sound healing sessions.
They offer several accommodation styles, including a treehouse, as well as
beautiful open bamboo rooms and suites.
The training includes three vegetarian meals served at their gorgeous
on-site restaurant, as well as herbal teas and snacks throughout the
day.
Judging by the photos, the food looks out of this world. Everything is
prepared “in-house,” including freshly baked bread, homemade yogurt, and
tropical fruit jams.
They offer 200-hour and 300-hour traditional hatha yoga teacher training
courses, and a 3-day Sound Healing course. But guess what? If you join
one of their TTCs, you can
stay three extra days and take the sound healing course for free,
all-inclusive.
The training is led by teachers from around the world. The founder,
Simon, is from Australia and teaches meditation and sound healing.
Other teachers are from India and Bali.
YogaUnion, Ubud
|
| Image courtesy of YogaUnion |
⇒ 23-day 200-hour Vinyasa-based on Ashtanga Yoga TTC starting at $
2,499
YogaUnion has not one, but four shalas spread around Ubud named Fire, Earth,
Air, and Water. Each has its own character.
Although Fire is the largest and most popular, all the shalas are open-air
wooden structures with roofs, designed to stay shaded while still fully
connected to nature.
Fire, Earth, and Air shalas are located in the Sok Wayah rice fields area, a
short scooter ride from central Ubud. They are close enough to each
other that students share the same restaurant, and those staying at Earth or
Air can also use the pool near Fire.
The training includes three plant-based vegetarian meals made with fresh
organic ingredients, tropical fruits, and superfoods. Eggs and dairy are
also available for non-vegans.
Accommodation is at partner guesthouses and homestays scattered around the
neighborhood, within walking distance of each shala.
The Water shala (aka "Down the Rabbit Hole") sits in a lush tropical valley
garden right in the heart of Ubud, with a river running below and rooms with
balcony views. It has its own on-site pool and restaurant, and is a
few minutes' walk from central Ubud.
Unfortunately, you don't get to choose your shala. YogaUnion assigns it
based on availability for that month’s training, since multiple groups run
at the same time.
They offer a variety of programs, including retreats, short courses,
200-hour and 300-hour Vinyasa-based on Ashtanga yoga TTC, and a 200-hour
Somatic Breathwork TTC.
Yoga New Vision, Ubud
|
| Image courtesy of Yoga New Vision |
⇒ 22-day 200-hour Hatha Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga TTC starting at $
2,789
The location of Yoga New Vision’s TTCs is an absolutely stunning resort,
Omham Retreats and Resort, a spiritual sanctuary in northern
Ubud.
You get fantastic views of serene rice fields and palm trees from the
open-air yoga shala, and pretty much everywhere else on the resort. There is
also a gorgeous swimming pool in the garden.
Actually, the whole place feels like one giant garden. You probably won’t
need to wear shoes at all during your stay.
Although the resort remains open to outside guests during the TTCs, the
accommodation, classes, and dining areas are separated to give privacy to
the teacher training programs.
The training includes three freshly prepared vegetarian and vegan meals per
day.
According to their website, what sets the YNV method apart is their unique
blend of ancient Indian yogic wisdom with modern Western science.
YNV integrates three specific Western frameworks into its teaching
methodology: the Alexander Technique (somatic movement and posture),
Bioenergetics (emotional release through the body), and the
Buteyko Breathing Technique (evidence-based pranayama).
Another thing worth mentioning is that their 200-hour TTC includes, as a
bonus, a 50-hour online Yin Yoga course. So you can get a second
teaching certification with the same training. And the 300-hour
TTC includes a specific module on Yin Yoga and meditation.
They offer 200-hour and 300-hour Hatha Vinyasa and meditation teacher
training courses. Group sizes are kept to a maximum of 25
students. Almost all the teachers are originally from India.
Yogmantra, Gianyar
|
| Image courtesy of Yogmantra |
⇒ 23-day 200-hour multistyle Yoga TTC starting at $ 1,300
This is the most affordable yoga TTC on this list. The school
is located in Gianyar, about 20–30 minutes from central Ubud by scooter.
This is a quieter, less touristy area than Ubud or Uluwatu, with a more
local feel.
The training takes place at Yoga Mantra’s own building, which looks more
like a five-star hotel than a retreat center. But it’s not a hotel.
The facilities are only for their yoga students.
The air-conditioned yoga shalas offer ocean views. The rooms are private,
modern, and include sea-view options with private balconies. The facilities
also include an infinity pool and a courtyard surrounded by greenery.
There are three yoga halls in the same building. Two are used for the
200-hour TTC, and the third for the 300-hour TTC. This is to ensure
group sizes remain small, with a maximum of 14 students per batch for the
asana classes.
One thing to note is that the property is located next to a busy road.
However, most students seem to quickly forget about it once the training
begins. Also, the 300-hour yoga shala does not have an ocean view.
They offer a range of programs, including retreats, as well as 100-hour,
200-hour, and 300-hour multistyle (Ashtanga, Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga)
teacher trainings. The teachers come from Rishikesh and Bali.
Purna Yoga, Canggu
|
| Image courtesy of Purna Yoga |
⇒ 21-day 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga TTC starting at $ 2,389
I’m really happy to include Purna Yoga Bali in this list. This school was
founded by a lovely couple I met years ago in Mysore, Rohit and Ewelina,
both dedicated Ashtanga yoga practitioners.
The school is still growing, but they’ve already gathered around 100 reviews
across Google Maps, BookYogaRetreats, and BookRetreats; all 5 stars.
The 200-hour program focuses on the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga primary
series. You’ll learn the Mysore-style practice and have the
traditional led class once a week.
This is one of the few schools that focus on Ashtanga Yoga. But the
training also offers meditation, breathwork, and philosophy, and you’ll also
learn how to teach styles like Hatha, Vinyasa & Restorative yoga.
They always choose outstanding locations for their trainings and
retreats. The setting for their next TTCs is a gorgeous, luxurious
villa with spacious rooms, wide terrace gardens, and a 25-meter swimming
pool.
Although the villa is in a quite isolated area, it’s still within walking
distance of restaurants and cafes.
It’s also a great option for those who are sustainability-minded. It
has solar panels and supports recycling and waste reduction practices.
The training includes three buffet-style vegetarian meals per day.
Another highlight is that they intentionally keep group sizes small so each
student gets full attention, with a maximum of 15 students.
They offer an 8-day Ashtanga yoga and personal development retreat, as well
as a 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga TTC.
Samasti Yoga, Canggu
|
| Image courtesy of Samasti Yoga |
⇒ 29-day 200-hour Hatha and Vinyasa Flow Yoga TTC starting at $
3,690
Samasti Yoga training venue is a luxurious villa surrounded by
ricefields and lush greenery, with a swimming pool right next to it.
The open-air yoga hall is huge. It has wooden floors, a high pyramid-style
wooden ceiling with fans, and it’s surrounded by beautiful gardens and
trees.
The accommodation is in the same immaculate villa, just a few steps from the
yoga hall. All the rooms are bright, spacious, and beautifully designed.
The training includes two buffet-style vegetarian (or vegan) meals per day
at 9:30 am and 6:30 pm. Everyone says the food is amazing, healthy,
and consistently good. The pictures tell the same story.
One of the highlights is the communal dining experience, where students and
teachers share meals together around one long table.
Although the beach is about a 20-minute drive from the villa, there’s a long
break from 1 to 4 pm, which gives you plenty of time to go surfing, relax at
the beach, grab some food, or simply study by the pool.
The main teachers are Sean, the founder from Australia, and Bernd from
Austria. According to their website, their teaching style combines
traditional Eastern practices with more modern approaches like somatic
healing, trauma awareness, and nervous system regulation.
They offer several online courses, as well as 200-hour and 300-hour hatha
and vinyasa flow yoga teacher trainings. The TTC also includes classes in
Yin, Tantra, Restorative, and Kundalini yoga.
Salty Prana, Uluwatu
|
| Image courtesy of Salty Prana |
⇒ 22-day 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga TTC starting at $ 2,716
Salty Prana Retreat Center is set in a peaceful area of Uluwatu, just a
five-minute drive from the nearest beach and around 15–20 minutes from
popular spots like Padang Padang Beach, Suluban Beach, and Dreamland Beach.
The retreat center looks absolutely beautiful. It features a unique mix of
tropical bohemian and minimalist industrial design, and they’ve managed to
fit a lot into the space.
Besides the swimming pool, there’s also a sauna and an ice bath.
There are two yoga shalas: Saraswati Shala and Varuna Shala. Both offer
panoramic ocean views, as well as beautiful sunsets and sunrises, but the
best views are definitely from Varuna Shala, the open-air rooftop shala.
Saraswati Shala, however, has AC.
The retreat center is also available for private rentals, and you can tell
they’ve paid attention to every detail to make sure everything runs
smoothly.
If you’re thinking about hosting your own retreat or training someday,
this could be a really inspiring place to check out.
The training includes three vegetarian meals per day, which students
absolutely rave about. One student even said that although he wasn’t
vegetarian, the food was so good it made him want to become one. Even
in pictures, everything looks delicious.
The founders and main teachers are a surfer-yogi couple, Ben (Australian)
and Celine (Swiss). They offer a 50-hour Yin teacher training, several
100-hour trainings, as well as 200-hour and 300-hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher
Trainings. Group sizes are kept relatively small, with a maximum of 24
students.
Ulu Yoga, Uluwatu
|
| Image courtesy of Ulu Yoga |
⇒ 28-day 200-hour multistyle yoga TTC starting at $ 4,467
The 200-hour multistyle yoga TTC takes place at Ulu Yoga Bali’s private
shala with ocean view and air conditioning.
The shala has its own custom aerial rig, cushioned flooring, and all
the props you might need, as it’s also used for their Aerial Yoga TTC.
It’s located about a 10-minute drive from beaches like Padang Padang Beach,
Dreamland Beach, and Bingin Beach.
Accommodation for the 200-hour training is provided at partner resorts
within walking distance of the shala, but you can also book your own
accomodation is you prefer.
The location for the 300-hour Multistyle Yoga TTC is Le Bamboo Bali, a
luxurious 4-star eco-resort built mainly from bamboo and inspired by
Balinese design. It features an infinity pool and ocean views.
The same location is used for their Yin and Ashtanga yoga TTCs.
Both trainings include only breakfast, so you have the flexibility to
explore the different cafes and restaurants nearby. There is also an
option to add lunch and dinner for a small fee.
The 200-hour multistyle yoga teacher training focuses mainly on Hatha and
Vinyasa yoga, but it also includes Ashtanga, Yin, Aerial, and Acro
yoga. This is actually
the only school in this list that offers Aerial and Acro yoga.
The 300-hour multistyle yoga teacher training goes deeper into Hatha and
Vinyasa, and it adds meditation, Tantra, and Kundalini Yoga.
The teaching team is international, with instructors from the USA, Europe,
and India. The founder and lead teacher is Eddie, from the USA.
All Yoga Training, Nusa Lembongan
|
| Image courtesy of All Yoga Training |
⇒ 23-day 200-hour Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga TTC starting at $ 3,650
The school is located on Nusa Lembongan, a tiny 8 km² island just off the
coast of Bali. Its location offers a refreshing escape from the traffic and
chaos of the mainland. It’s quieter, more local, and genuinely beautiful.
The shala with sunset view sits directly on Jungut Batu Beach.
You can literally walk straight into the ocean after practice.
There's no resort or pool attached.
The first 10 students to sign up each month get free accommodation in
a yogi dorm at a family-run guesthouse close to the shala.
Beyond that, students need to book their own lodging. Luckily, the
island has everything from budget dorms to boutique beach resorts within a
short walk.
Food is also not included. Students eat at the many nearby cafés and
restaurants, which are well known for their healthy, vegetarian, and
vegan-friendly options.
The teaching team is very international, with experienced teachers from
India, Brazil, Switzerland, and more. The lead teacher is David Adame from
Spain.
The 200-hour program focuses on the Primary Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga,
but also includes modules in Creative Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, and Rocket
Yoga. Mysore-style practice is introduced from day 10.
In summary, they offer a range of programs, including a 200-hour Ashtanga
Vinyasa Yoga TTC, a 100-hour Yin Yoga TTC, and 300-hour trainings in Yin,
Rocket, and Vinyasa. Group sizes are kept to a maximum of 22 students.
