Wow - thank you SO much for this awesome list. I am so glad to find this wealth of information. I have a few questions. Did you write up anything from your experience in the Ashram in Ecuador? I plan to go to India in the next few years, but will likely be in Ecuador in the next 6 months and would love more information, such as cost, schedule, rules, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am traveling with my husband and two young children. From your experience, would ashrams be open to having kids? I noticed Amma's website mentions a children's library. Most other websites don't seem to say anything about kids. Our little ones wake us up early ever day, so the schedule would work fine. I'd love to find a place where the kids could play with some other kids while we meditate, and where they would be seen as part of the community rather than a nuisance. I mean, we have to raise the next generation to be mindful... :) Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there, thank you so much for your positive feedback. I haven't written more about the ashram in Ecuador, Asociacion Escuela de Autorealizacion (AEA), but you can find more information in this other blog yogainecuador.blogspot.com. It's a wonderful place. Normally they offer only long term courses that includes one day of theory and another day of hatha practice a week so I'm not sure if that would suit you but you can certainly join the group meditation, they are amazing, I really miss that vibe.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you can bring your children to Amma's ashram. Another place where you could bring your children is the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama. I know at least one couple from Spain that is living there with their children, it's a very comfortable and safe place but a lot more expensive compare to Amma's ashram. I have never seen children at a Sivananda's ashram but I guess is possible. I suggest you write an e-mail to whichever ashram you are planning to visit to find that out.
Hello there is another beautiful and reputed yoga ashram which should be added to this wonderful list: Arhanta Yoga Ashram, it is in central India. Authentic and traditional, thank you.

Dear Marco,
ReplyDeleteThat’s a lovely and informative blog you are writing.
I am considering to take YTTC in India.
I’ve seen your recommendation on Sivananda Madurai. Wanted to ask if you familiar with Sivananda Kutir, as their dates are more suitable for me.
Have read in your blog about TTC at Swami Rama Sadhaka ashram, which made me interested as well.
Wanted to ask you, overall within your experience which place you would recommend for TTC over others.
Will appreciate your opinion on this matter.
Best Regards,
Elena
